BPPV Management

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a common inner ear condition that causes brief episodes of dizziness or spinning, often triggered by changes in head position, such as turning in bed or looking up. It occurs when tiny crystals (otoconia) become dislodged and move into the wrong part of the inner ear, disrupting your sense of balance. At our clinic, we provide specialist assessment to accurately diagnose BPPV using positional tests like the Dix-Hallpike manoeuvre. Once confirmed, we offer effective, non-invasive treatment using repositioning techniques such as the Epley or Semont manoeuvres.
vHIT Testing

The Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT) is a quick, non-invasive way to assess the function of your inner ear balance system, specifically the semicircular canals. Using high-speed video goggles, we measure your eye movements in response to small, rapid head turns. This helps identify if a vestibular weakness is present and guides accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for dizziness and imbalance.
VNG Testing

Videonystagmography (VNG) uses infrared video goggles to track eye movements while you perform a series of tasks, such as following lights, changing head positions, and stimulation of the ears using gentle vibration . These tests help us assess how well your inner ear and brain are working together to maintain balance, guiding accurate diagnosis and personalised care.
Caloric Testing

Caloric testing is a key part of balance assessment, used to evaluate how each inner ear (labyrinth) responds to temperature. During the test, warm and cool air or water is gently introduced into each ear canal, triggering a natural reflex that causes eye movements. By measuring these responses, we can determine if there is a weakness or asymmetry in the balance function of one ear—helping to pinpoint the cause of dizziness or vertigo.
VEMP Testing

Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) testing assesses how certain parts of the inner ear and balance pathways respond to sound and movement. Small sensors are placed on the neck or under the eyes to measure muscle responses triggered by sound stimuli. This test helps identify conditions affecting the otolith organs (saccule and utricle), which play a crucial role in detecting head position and movement. VEMP is especially useful in diagnosing disorders like vestibular neuritis, Meniere’s disease, and superior canal dehiscence.
Audiological Testing

Hearing and balance are closely linked, which is why a full audiological assessment is an important part of investigating dizziness or vertigo. We offer comprehensive hearing tests, including pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), acoustic reflexes and more. These tests help us identify hearing loss, middle ear issues or signs of inner ear disorders, ensuring a complete and accurate diagnosis.
